Melonie Bonner, the current president of the Texas Association of Collegiate Testing Personnel (TACTP), has served as Testing Center Manager on Kilgore College’s main campus for more than 21 years and has over 24 years of experience in higher education.

She began her career at KC in the Registrar’s Office then later returned to the testing center after graduating from the University of Texas at Tyler.

Melonie is currently a member of the College Board, the National College Testing Association (NCTA), and the Texas Association of Black Personnel in Higher Education (TABPHE). 

She has served on numerous panels and is a member of various committees such as the Virtual College of Texas State-wide Testing Taskforce and currently serves on the Texas Assessment Conference Planning Committee.  Melonie holds various proctor certifications and has received numerous accolades including the Texas Education Agency Excellence Award for her dedication to the GED® testing program.

John R. Harrell II is known as an innovative thinker with proven skills working with people from diverse academic, socioeconomic, and cultural backgrounds. John is graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University, where he received a Bachelor of Business Administration in General Business with a concentration in Corporate Communication, and he is currently pursuing his Master of Business Administration at Houston Baptist University.

Previously, John worked as a Testing Assistant where he assisted the Assistant Director of Testing Services in planning and managing paper and pencil TExES teacher certification exams, computer-based Graduate Records Exams, and various other high stakes assessments. During his tenure at SFA he worked alongside the Assistant Director of Testing Services to prepare the department’s Council for the Advancement of Standards in Higher Education Self-Assessment Guide; which led to a successful reaccreditation.

In his current role, as a Testing Associate, John manages the day to day operations of a multi-site academic testing center. John provides administrative oversight for various testing programs including ETS Strategic Testing Network site, Pearson VUE exams, Performance Assessment Network exams, Kryterion Testing Network exams, institutional departmental exams, and institutional exams with ADA accommodations.

John places a great focus on college readiness standards and offering students opportunities for remediation that aids in preparing to enroll in college level coursework. 

As an evolving student services professional, he has made a personal commitment to help close the gaps for all students and increase student success and persistence.

Roger Grimm has 15+ years’ experience as a Testing Director in higher education plus an additional 5 years of experience in the field of vocational evaluation. Roger is married to the love of his life, Melissa, and has five wonderful children, ages 13, 11 and 6. The youngest three children are triplets. Roger and his family moved to East Texas 2 years ago and has been working as the Director of Testing at Tyler Junior College. He is passionate about the work that he does and enjoys the opportunities he has had in providing leadership and direction for the testing staff, as well as to represent testing to the college and the local community. During his time at Tyler Junior College, he has proactively sought to improve test security on both the Main and West campuses in order to ensure the integrity of the testing environment.

 With Roger’s leadership and the help of the Testing Services management team, the Tyler Junior College Testing Services department on the main campus recently became a certified testing center through the National College Testing Association.

 Roger earned a B.A. degree from Trinity Western University in British Columbia, Canada, in Psychology, as well as a M.A degree from the University of Northern Colorado in Rehabilitation Counseling with an emphasis in Vocational Evaluation.

Assist with directing and monitoring the daily operations of a multi-campus testing services department. Responsible for personnel management activities for district wide testing coordinators and testing personnel; including recommendation for employment, orientation, training, supervision, performance appraisal, evaluation, coaching and professional development.
Assist the Director in a variety of tasks, including reviewing new standardized test instruments for appropriate use within the district, coordinating cut score changes with Deans, providing technical assistance to supervisors, employees and community agencies on testing related issues. Provide informational briefings on ability to benefit and mandated testing requirements. Represent and perform job duties on behalf of Director in his/her absence.
